About Us

History
The true origin of the association is quite unclear, although a similar named organisation was formed and operating in Blackpool during the Second World War in 1943.  Unfortunately it seems to have faded away following the conclusion of hostilities.
It was later re-established under its present title and has grown from strength to strength.

Purpose
The aim and object of the present Liaison Committee is to further the interests of the members of the affiliated organisations of the Committee and of Ex-Servicemen generally. Membership is open to all ex-service organisations in the Fylde area, and there are now about thirty in number. These Associations, which have originated from every wing of the armed forces, are combined together in this Committee to achieve those objectives. We meet in the British Legion Club in King Street, Blackpool, on the first Thursday of every month at 2000 hrs.

Standards
Most of the Associations possess their own Standard, or Banner, which is borne by its official Standard Bearer to Service funerals and ceremonial events throughout the year.
These dedicated men and women carry out this duty voluntarily, in all kinds of weather conditions, without complaint. Their presence on these occasions adds the ambience of pride, and of service to their comrades, that is indeed exemplary.

The members of the affiliated associations take part in many parades and services, such as the annual Remembrance Day service and parades at the Cenotaph. The FESLC play a large part in the organisation and operation of such procedures.
